Today I don’t feel like doing anything I just wanna lay in my bed
|
It was 7:30, on a monday. The day started slow and just horrible for Melody. She was up all night on the computer, although she wasn’t allowed to. She was hooked on a new video game, it was hard for her to just stop at 22:30.
“I only had 4 hours of sleep…” She sleepily said to herself as she got done with breakfast and got her bag. Her uniform was only half way neat and her hair was in a large messy bun. She yawned as she went through the halls and finally out of the dormitory.
Her first class of the day was potions, or science, whatever the people call it. That class was too easy on her, even if she isn’t tired, she’ll end up yawning her class through. ‘Nap time.’ She mentally thought to herself. Rumors had it that there will be new teachers, either today or during this week. That was the only thing that brought Melody to get up in the first place.
A few said they are mostly P.E. teachers, since the school doesn’t have too many of them. Ah, more broom flying, which Melody hates. Hopefully they are nice and go easy on everyone. Melody took 10 minutes just to get in the building, only 5 more minutes till class starts. She watched as everyone started to rush to their classes, which made her panic inside, she needed to get to the 4th story! Before the bell rang, Melody made it in her class, with more panic rushing through her blood she quickly sat on her spot and packed her notebook out.
“At least I’m not that late…” She added quickly.

For some reason he desired to be the last one into the classroom, and so waited in a concealed location away from the room where he watched students pour in. He was almost certain that everyone had arrived and was heading for the door when a pink haired girl cut past him and sat down before quickly retrieving her notebook.
The elf entered and took his place at the front of the room, next to a desk. He wasn't quite sure as to why he considered it so important to be the last one in the room, but he felt like it was a good practice. As he walked in he shut the open door behind him. The teacher was wearing a white tangzhuang with purple trims, his pants were black and made of cloth. His hair was slicked back, all but a few strands. As usual, he made no attempt of hiding the birthmark on his face, which resembled a burn mark.
"Zǎoān!" announced Yáng, "That's Mandarin for Good Morning." He went over to the desk and sat down, rummaging through its contents. From the desk he retrieved several stacks of large textbooks, placing them ontop of the desk. The elf stood up and retrieved one book off of one of the stacks, tucking it under his left arm. All the while he kept a careful eye on each of the students, his eyes moved from boy to girl observing their behavior. With a smile he introduced himself.
"My name is Yáng Qí and I'll be one of your many science teachers. For the year we'll be focusing on a curriculum called "Exploring Magic with Physical Science", which is also the name of the class. Normally we'd start with everyone introducing themselves but we're running a bit behind. So we'll do that at the end of class, if we have time... Right so let me begin with a brief introduction of the curriculum. We'll be using these books." He paused to show off the thick book under his arm, holding it high for everyone to see, its cover a picture of the sun.
"The book looks tough but most of this stuff is pictures and charts." With that he flipped open the book to the table of contents. "It has about sixteen modules and we'll be covering each of them. Each module is about 20 pages long so we'll be doing one a week or more depending on how things shape up. The book is riddled with experiments so we'll have fun with those. So lets begin shall we... would someone kindly volunteer to sort these books out among the class? When you get your book, just open to the first module and read along with me." With that, Yáng opened to the first chapter and cleared his throat before starting to read.
"In this course, you are going to learn a lot about the world, magic, and the universe around you. We will study familiar things, such as the elements and others as mysterious as distant galaxies. We will learn about the structure of the physical realms as well as its place among the other planes of existence. In order to make sure we are both on the same page. We need to discuss some basic concepts. It is possible that you have learned some or all of this before, but it is necessary that we cover these basics before we do anything in depth. So, even if some of the topics I cover sound familiar, please read this book thoroughly so that you will not fall behind in a later module. Many of the subjects we will cover in later modules are probably familiar to you." Yáng cleared his throat and took a long, deep breath. He read slowly and his pauses were long, this could've been on purpose -to allow the class to catch up- or it could be a problem of his.
"Most of you probably know something about the elements, our planet, astronomy, and so on. However, I can guarantee that you have not learned these subjects at the depth in which I will teach them in this course. So even if you think it's all the same stuff you've learned before, please read the material I present to you carefully. You will not be disappointed... And now we're on an experiment, so if you've all received your books, it should be on the first page of the first module, Experiment 1.1. Check your desks for the following supplies: Small glass cup, baking soda, tap water, 9-volt battery, insulated wire, scissors, electrical tape, spoon, and goggles. Set it all out on your desk and we'll go through the steps together." said Yáng, taking the same materials out of his desk. He waited for everyone else.

[tr][atrb=width,220]Audie leaned back on the wall, the material cool to the touch. She had cracked open the classroom door in order to listen in; though, if she tried, she could have heard the man just as well with the door closed. The sound wouldn't have been as vibrant, no, but it would have been adequate; however, she rather preferred to hear it as well as she could, if, the option was available. The teacher talking, at the moment, was a Mr. Yáng, an elven science teacher of some sort. They weren't close. Which was a little odd, as they did teach similar (admittedly, only broadly alike) subjects, although at varying times of the day. Audie thought it may have something to do with the unfortunate fact that she was a vampire. Some found it off putting and generally discouraging of close friends, due to the whole 'occasionally killing a person to eat' and all of that. She hadn't killed in years, of course, but was not willing to divulge that information to quell the rumor. As it was currently working in her benefit, she had no reason to make herself more of an appealing friend.
She digressed.
The vampire, over her years at the school, had developed a curiosity concerning the differing ways that her colleagues taught. They were interesting to observe, she might say, if one inquired her reasons, but truthfully, although the previous was a portion of that, she required a bit of inspiration for her own classes, whose lesson plans, while interesting for the students, grew monotonous for her. This year, perhaps, she would teach as he appeared to - kind to your students, but efficient, capable. It would certainly be better, she supposed, than playing the part of a brand-new teacher, whose ability to control a class begins and ends at nothing. She hadn't expected her students to behave well while she put on that facade - she was disappointed that they behaved worse than her very low expectations.
Yáng began to read from a textbook. She cringed. She would not be copying that, no, no way in hell. She loathed hearing other people read out loud and rarely did so herself - she read quickly, faster than she could speak, and missed complete phrases often because of it. It was preferable to memorize the whole thing before hand. The vampire tuned him out for a moment, the extended pauses grating on her nerves.
Audie tugged at her black jacket. She wasn't uncomfortably warm, in that and white cotton dress, but she could feel the humidity. It made her skin crawl, even while she was inside the more comfortable, arid buildings. She'd have to remember to set her classroom to a much lower temperature.
She began listening, again, when he began to announce the experiment. OH, fun. Should she stride in and watch the students try to perform what should be simple and fun into a disaster zone? Audie had no classes which required her immediate attendance, so - yes. Would it be more appropriate for her to knock? It was what first came to mind, sure, but it also came with option of him being able to turn her away.
Instead, placing on a small smile and brushing her away from her eyes, she stepped into the classroom. The students were in the process of getting their supplies - some had already completed the task.
"Hello," She began, leaving off any name or title as was her habit, giving a small wave, "Do you mind if I stay and observe your students - your class, as it is, really?"

Today I don’t feel like doing anything I just wanna lay in my bed
|
Before Melody could close her eyes to take a nap till the next class started she became wide eyed. ‘Wait, what? Was this our teacher all along?’ She asked herself, staring in awe, ‘I don’t remember this crap!’ As a whole conversation started in her head.
‘IS HE NEW?!’ She yelled to herself in her head, she looked around the classroom, noticing that the students were acting normal. Usually when there is a new teacher her class will misbehave just to annoy them. She was so confused that she didn’t notice her friend had pushed her off the seat.
Once again she looked around, not knowing what to. “Pass out the books.” Her friend whispered, which Melody just glared. ‘Ok stay cool Melody, these are just like, what? 30lbs?!’ She thought, as she slowly went up the Mr. Qi’s desk to get those books. She had to pass them out one by once just because, they were too big for her. She was done when the experiment started, which she quickly got the supplies. She opened the page to the experiment, and went through the steps. For the other students this was the perfect opportunity to speak to one another. Rumors spread through all over the room, closely flooding Melody with too much information. A few were even interesting, such the ones about the boys in the different classes or even the one concerning about the monsters.
‘I should stop sneaking out so much...I could get killed.’ She thought, as she heard about the incident with a teacher who was doing the patrol about the school campus. Before she knew it the experiment was done, although she had no idea what it was for or what it did, she wasn’t really paying attention. She was done before Mr. Qi could go through the steps, which was really planed. ‘Ah, crap, I wasn’t suppose to go ahead…’ She thought, crossing her arms in shame.
She plopped herself down on the seat looking through the book she got. ‘I really don’t remember any of this.‘ Looking rather disappointed at the book, she is going to have it hard this school year. She looked up at Mr. Qi, noticing the scar, once again she stared at him in awe. “I would pound so much make-up over it if it were on my face.” She whispered, she envied him for leaving it as it is.
Her friend came close to her eye and whispered some hypothesis about her. “Someone has a crush.” Which just pissed Melody off. All she could do is sigh, Melody knew she was rather immature, but not that immature. “Sometimes you are really annoying.” Melody replied, just wanting to leave. “Not my fault.” She added snappy, really meaning something else than what it sounded. Then Ms. Nylen came in, asking if she could observe. Melody only had Ms. Nylen for English one year, it was rather fun with her. Ms. Nylen did have the reputation that come in some classes and just watch, which no one knew why.
Melody yawned a few times, now noticing that she wanted to take a nap in this class, but how could she? She needed to figure out if Mr. Qi was new or not, his introduction seemed as if he was new but the actions of the students were not. Did he just have that much of authority or control over her class? Melody just kept yawning as more unanswered questions came to mind. She couldn’t just ask him, it would be too much embarrassing. She’ll just ask a classmate after lunch or something. She’ll probably forget to in the end, as always and then these questions will stay in her brain all year long, till she doesn’t care anymore.
“Too many charts.” She whispered again, as she started to look through the book again, ‘I wish I could just take a nap, but at the same time I should stay at my manners.’ She thought, ignoring the questions that just kept coming. Not only does Melody want to make a good first impression, if Mr. Qi was new, but also she was scared he would be mean and give her detention. She did get detention a few times as she accidentally fell asleep in some classes, something she wouldn’t wish for to her greatest enemy, if she had any.

Even a certain someone lurking outside could be heard, who Yáng decided to ignore to keep the class uninterrupted. There was also his elven eyes which constantly searched the class, picking up every little tic and movement made by the students. Most of these problem kids he decided to ignore. It was their own fault if their distractions kept them from learning. Thought the elf wouldn't hesitate to jump on these students if they started disrupting the class.
When a pink-haired girl came up to distribute the books; Yáng gave her a nod, a warm smile, and a "Thank you". It kind of bothered him, she was taking the books one at a time. None of the men in the classroom bothered to even step up and help, "What jerks" thought Yáng. Every time the pink-haired girl came close he couldn't help but let his eyes wander for a moment. This girl seemed a bit taller than most in the class... and there was that whole pink hair thing. "Is that natural or does she dye it that way?" pondered Yáng in silence.
Once the books were passed out, she sat down. From here she whispered with her friend about his "scar" and something about a "crush" on him. She was staring, sure, but that wasn't unusual. Everyone was staring at him, whether to get a better look or to hear him better. Speaking of hearing, the elf could very clearly hear the sound of a hand grasping the doorknob and pushing their way into the class. Yáng glanced up from the book to see the vampire teacher standing in the doorway.
"Of course I don't mind, Ms. Nylen" replied Yáng after a moment. Yes, he knew of her. Some of the other teachers warned him about the vampire teacher, mostly about her habit of going into other classrooms. Because of that, and the fact that he heard her eons before she came in, made it so he wasn't surprised at all when she came in. He made an effort to appear unaffected and not interested because he had already decided on how he wanted her to feel about him. The elf nearly chuckled at the thought, the fun part was getting to that point.
The pink-haired girl was doing something again. She was yawning, talking to herself, and generally had an air of uneasiness. The girl appeared tired and struggling with something. How curious~ And now, Yáng had decided what their relationship should be and already he was planning it all out. First step, two moments together which leave a strong impression. Of course they didn't have to be good impressions, they just had to be strong impressions. It didn't matter if she felt angry or something about him, all memories and feelings can be changed to elect a different emotion. But enough of all these distractions, it was time for the experiment. Yáng flipped to the experiment and started with the introduction.
"Atoms and molecules make up almost everything that surrounds us. Individually, they are too small to see. However, you can distinguish between the different kinds of atoms and molecules by carefully examining the substances they make up, as well as how those substances change. In this experiment, we will observe molecules breaking down while other molecules are built up. By observing the changes, you will learn about the difference between atoms and molecules." Yáng looked up from the book.
"Now this is a very big principle of using magic. Because when you use magic you're disturbing the atoms and molecules around you, which creates the desired effect. Trust me, if you have a power or know how to use magic, those spells and stuff don't just come from nowhere. Think about it, I'm sure you've all heard about mass or energy not being able to be created or destroyed, and that's a very true law of physics. This is an important part of magic, which can make spells a lot easier to cast if you understand it. For example, it's much harder to try and create electricity if you don't know that to do such a thing you must disturb the atoms and molecules in a certain way to produce it. Anyway, lets get on with the experiment." The elf goes over to his desk and the experiment supplies on it.
"First things first, put on your eye protection" says Yáng as he puts on the pair of goggles. "Your glass should already be three fourths of the way filled with tap water. Open the bag of baking soda and pour it into the glass, the amount in each bag is one teaspoon, so you won't have to measure it out with your stirring spoon. Speaking of the stirring spoon, stir the baking soda and water mixture vigorously. Get it all mixed and dissolved, but please don't spill any of it. After that, take out your two pieces of insulated wire. Using the scissors, strip about a quarter inch off both ends of each wire. The trick here is to gently squeeze the scissors until you feel a resistance, then ease off and continue doing that while you turn the wire round and round. Once you do all that, you can simply pull the insulation off." With that, Yáng paused to let everyone catch up and to do the procedure himself, but when it came to stripping the wires he accidently cut one of them in half. He pretended it didn't happen.
"After that, tape the bare ends of each wire to one of the terminals on the battery. Make sure the wires don't touch at all. Once you've done that you can immerse the ends of both wires in the water and observe the results. You should see bubbles coming from the ends of the wires, which I'll explain in a bit. Now we're going to let this experiment run for around ten minutes so I'll take this opportunity to hand out your lab notebooks." The teacher reached into the desk and took out a whole stack of notebooks, which he quickly handed out to everyone in the class.
"When we perform experiments such as this one you will write what is happening in your lab notebook. You should write your name and the date, the number of the experiment, an introduction to the experiment, the supplies used, the entire procedure, then an observation section where you write down what you observe, and finally a discussion section for explaining what happened during the experiment. The notebooks will be graded at the end of semester, so keep that in mind as you write in them."
"Now during these next ten minutes you should notice the color of your solution and the wires to change, so be sure to write that down as it happens." With all that finally being said, Yáng leaned against his desk to watch the students. Keeping a special watch on the pink-haired girl and what she would do.

Today I don’t feel like doing anything I just wanna lay in my bed
|
Melody wrote down all the stuff that Mr. Qi had informed. Before she could get done, she got caught up in a conversation. While doing her friend’s experiment, which happens a lot in class, she always ended up giggling. Her friend then copied Melody’s notebook, since Melody never says anything. Melody was too concentrated on the rumors that kept flooding the whole place.
But at some point she got bored, so she ended up scribbling the notebook’s cover. All of her notebooks and folders look like that. Sometimes they are small stick figure sketches of funny situations that happened over the years. Sometimes names or quotes, but most of her scribbles were just hearts. She loved hearts, they were so innocent, something she can’t call herself. Melody didn’t see herself as an angle on earth, which made her blush. All the boys that told her that, to be honest, she still liked to be called that.
At one point her friend would join in the scribblings, drawing stupid stuff, more bullying her than being a friend. Melody never saw that though, while being mad she practically scratched those scribbles away. She yawned more, wanting to lay her head down, but instead she rested her head on her palm.
Melody started to stare at the experiment that she made, wondering why the water and wires were changing color. “Probably because, of the baking soda…” She said to herself as she tapped the glass with her pen. “Let’s go see if I’m right.” She added, looking in the already open book, staring down at the letters. She couldn’t read further than the first sentence though, she just read but didn’t really pay attention. She just let the letters glad away as she finally fell asleep.
It wasn’t long till she woke up again though, her friend shook her awake. When Melody was awake again, the conversation in the back had started again. But Melody didn’t want to be apart of it. Instead she looked over to Ms. Nylen and partly to Mr. Qi. Melody was ware aware of Ms. Nylen’s race, but she didn’t care. She was nice and friendly, plus there was never an incident where she attacked someone. Melody didn’t like the words that people used to described Ms. Nylen, it was awful and just pure prejudgement.
Melody stared at the notebook angrily, she hated it when people get used and then get backstabbed. Sadly Melody needs to learn that it happens all the time with her. A naive nature she’ll lose hard. Melody took out a piece of paper from her binder, writing…
“I only had Ms. Nylen for one year, so I don’t know her personally but I know that she is polite and nice. She always helps me with the problems I had in class. Some people are mean and tell the opposite…And her outfits always makes me smile”
She folded the piece of paper in half and stuck it in the notebook that Mr. Qi gave out. She looked up over to him. Sometimes she did notice that he kept looking over to her. Probably because, she was the one that handed out the books. She hoped that he saw the paper that she stuck in the notebook, even though she isn’t suppose to give it back, she will. Hoping that he’ll see it. He wanted to know the truth before believing the lies. Well the truth, that Melody sees. Some teachers talk about her behind her back, since they believe those lies, it was the times when Melody just didn’t want to be in the room. Often she is louder and outgoing in those classes, but when it comes to that, she will just stay silent. Scribbling in her notebooks.
Melody stared back down, at the cover… It was a mess, “oops…” She added, giggling to herself, “I’m an idiot.” She added, as she noticed her friends agreed with her. She blushed, smiling as she looked over to them.
She never found out the answer about the water and wires. But that didn’t matter now, not at the moment. She looked over to Mr.Qi, smiling, waiting for the class to continue.

[tr][atrb=width,220] "Of course I don't mind, Ms. Nylen." The man did not appear perturbed at her entrance, but Audie suspected that it bothered him more than he let on. It wasn't of much interest to her, though, how he felt about her presence, so far as it permitted her to remain polite. The use of her name, now, that was a little more troubling. She made no expression concerning it, but the use of her last name made her cringe inside. She supposed that she should to be accustomed to it, by now.
Yáng began to read from the textbook, once again, starting a spiel on atoms and molecules and their existence. Atoms did, in fact, constitute nearly everything that surrounded them - including molecules. What difference was he talking about, then? The size, perhaps? This type of science was not what she was overly familiar with, so, it was not inconsiderable that Yáng knew something that she did not - she would not judge yet, even if she believed that he should probably teach, or remind, the children what an atom was made of, before beginning to teach the different types.
He looked away from the book, and continued speaking. Audie, if she were in the mood to verbally commentate on the lesson, would say that is was extremely improbable that one would be able to create electricity - a more advanced magic - without being taught, until the student was able to comprehend the actions that created such. If they were especially talented or uncontrolled they may be able to manifest some sign of power, ability, but if they were ignorant of the way in which it originated then they would never be able to control in any manner.
Hard sciences required such knowledge, to manifest, fully, the more physical magic (contorting the elements and such). Magic regarding bodies were less complicated, but not any less difficult or requiring a lesser degree of knowledge. Then there were the more uncontrolled an inexact magics regarding future - telling and mind reading which involved time travel and souls, respectively, and which required little knowledge of the mechanics, but great control and practice.
And she was rambling, again. She brought her attentions to the experiment.
Audie took a pair of goggles, slipping them on over her eyes. Her own, personalized pair would have been better, but she had foolishly forgotten to bring them. She stood near the back of the classroom, observing the students - the majority of them idiots, with a sprinkling of potentials. The teacher in a remarkable show of foresight, had measured the water and soda before the class had began; doing such ensured that no student would fail the experiment before it truly began. There was no accounting for stupidity, however. The student nearest her, who doing the experiment half-heartedly, picked up the scissors and began to quickly snap through the wire, and, incidentally, his finger. Audie sighed, and moving more quickly than a human could, took the scissors from him.
She stripped the wire for him, unwilling to let this - admittedly, uninteresting - experiment be ruined by a inane child bleeding all over the place. Besides, she wasn't in the mood to begin craving blood at the moment; it would be most inopportune. With a small smile, careful not show her teeth, she demonstrated the the remainder of the experiment for the students around here, who, apparently, had difficulties seeing the teacher do it fifteen feet in front of them.
The vampire moved away when Yáng began to pass out notebooks. She waited until the students were distracted recording and observing the experiments as they should, and walked to the front of the classroom, near Yáng, who was keeping an eye on the students, the pink-haired girl in particular. Odd, but she did not care enough to comment about it.
"Interesting lesson, so far," Audie said, speaking softly so the students could not hear her, "What do you hope they will have learned by the end of the year?" She crossed her arms, nails brushing against her jacket.

Instead he looked at more worthwhile things, particularly the student in the back who messed up and cut his own finger. It was after he finished passing out the notebooks that she approached him at the front of the classroom.
"I'm glad you think the lesson is interesting, Ms. Nylen." Yáng paused and chuckled. "Excuse my rudeness, I just realized my mistake. Is it Miss Nylen or Mrs. Nylen?" The question seemed innocent enough, but it was a set up of sorts. A gateway to give the elf permission to delve deeper into her mind. It was all part of the game. The next question would depend on how she answered. Part of him doubted she was married. She did seem to have something a motherly personality what with the boy earlier, but maybe that was just a fluke.
"As for what I hope they will have learned. ...Well hopefully a deeper understanding of magic. But anyway..." Yáng stepped forward and through the classroom, checking up on each experiment before returning to the front of the class. "So lets discuss what you just saw in this experiment. The first thing you should have noticed is bubbles coming from each wire, allow me to explain."
"It's a process called electrolysis. Electrolysis is when you apply a direct electric current to drive a chemical reaction; in this case the chemical reaction is the decomposition of the water. I'm sure you've all heard of the term H2O and know that water is made of oxygen and hydrogen, hence the H and the O. And, of course, I'm going to assume you already know a little something about atoms and molecules. Atoms are the smallest chemical unit of matter while molecules are two or more atoms linked together to make unique properties."
"So here's a question for you. Is the copper wire that you used for the experiment an atom or a molecule, and then what about the water? The answer is that the water is a molecule, composed of hydrogen and oxygen atoms. ...While the copper wire is just billions upon billions of copper atoms together, isn't that interesting? Speaking of the copper wire, you should've noticed that wire connected to the positive terminal on the battery has turned a bluish-green color. In this case, the copper atoms in the wire interacted with water molecules and baking soda molecules, aided by the energy contained in the electricity. The result is a bluish-green substance called copper hydroxycarbonate."
"Copper hydroxycarbonate is formed when a copper atom links together with oxygen atoms, carbon atoms, and hydrogen atoms. In this experiment, the hydrogen and oxygen atoms came from both the water and the baking soda, the carbon atoms came from the baking soda alone, and the copper atoms came from the wire. Copper hydroxycarbonate is the same substance that you see on many statues, such as the Statue of Liberty. You see, when something made out of copper is exposed to the elements, a process similar to the one you just observed turns the copper atoms in the object into copper hydroxycarbonate. As a result, the object turns bluish-green, now you know why sometimes american pennies look so terrible."
"By the way, some substances -like copper- are made of billions upon billions of the same atom. These are called elements. Other substances we see -such as water- are made up of billions and billions of molecules. Those are called compounds. Finally, some substances -like wood or plastic- are actually mixtures of several different substances."
"So if a molecules is broken down into its constituent atoms. Do those atoms have the same properties as the molecule? Also. ...When salt is dissolved in water, it actually breaks down into two different substances. Is salt composed of atoms or molecules? If you guys can answer those two questions we'll take a break to play a game. Feel free to use your books, if you have trouble. ... Oh and before I forget. Could someone tell me the time?"

Skara only had a couple hours sleep, he had looked someone in the eyes, learning their fears and that night he had that guys very worst nightmare, so bad even the owner of the fears couldn't imagine it. So the half demon had woken up covered in sweat and stayed up the rest of the night reading his favourite book to help feel better. Because he hadn't slept the night away he was showered and dressed in his uniform with his pocket watch attached pretty early before he headed to his first class, he was the first one inside actually and he just sat at the back and did his best to look invisible while he waited for it to start.
He watched the other students file in, some a bit late but then if the teacher isn't here yet are you late? That little thought made him smile while he looked at the floor, keeping his eyes off anyone so he doesn't attract attention, no matter how much he wants friends. He watched the pink haired girl come in last then the teacher soon after that, he was an elf... a fey. Most likely as manipulative and silver tongued as the rest and he always looked into the eyes of fey, keeps him on the same field of them, perhaps at an advantage due to the knowledge he gleams from them with that look.
When the girl started to hand out the books he wanted to help her, his ancient code of chivalry poking at him, but that would attract attention, would make people look at him, try to get eye contact. And one person is enough for 24 hours. He also sensed the vampire outside the classroom, well sense is a bit strong, vampires just sort of prickle his little monster sense, like the hairs standing on the back of his neck. It doesn't really help with vampires just tells him one is hanging around and the general direction, but with monsters he has learned to know what they are and where they are, was the only useful part of his blood.
The ancient boy went through the motions of the lesson while the vampire slipped into the room, answering the questions in his head without knowing why he knew it, he hasn't properly lived enough to know this stuff so he assumed his master stuck the knowledge in his head during statis. Now he couldn't help what he did next, the elf asked the girl a personal question. That caused him to jump to his feet and fix his eyes on the elf teacher and unless said elf was a powerful telepath he wouldn't be able to stop Skara learning his fears, "Don't answer that question. Never give a fey personal information if you can help it." he said loud enough for everyone to hear, there goes his invisibility.
"As to your questions no atoms don't have the same properties at molecules, if they did oxygen and hydrogen wouldn't be so flammable and dangerous and would be liquid to." he explained keeping his eyes on the disfigured teacher, not caring what consequences his words caused "And any salt, not just the salt you put on your food it made up of atoms held together in a lattice by opposite electrical charges. Now for the time how about you buy a watch."

Today I don’t feel like doing anything I just wanna lay in my bed
|
Melody started to yawn, she bonked her head on the desk, giggling to herself. She was going to take a nap, this will take awhile, she had the feeling. She didn’t like this subject, it was just made of pure boredom. While she closed her eyes, her peace was disturbed by someone in the back, close to her. She popped her head up, knowing what is going to happen next.
“He just wants to know if Ms. Nylen is married or not.” Melody added, defending the new teacher. She never noticed this boy, how could she? He distance himself from everyone. “It’s not really personal, he could just look at her ring finger and find out too.” She added, crossing her arms, looking at Skara. Then Melody realized she hardly knew him, she quickly turned around blushing. That was a total embarrassment...
“It’s called sodium chloride.” She whispered to herself, correcting him a bit. “They have a crystal form in it’s solid phase...you could also consider the whole crystal to one macro-molecule but that isn’t helpful...But in solution, the ions are free from the crystal structure which can move freely and independently.” She added, looking down at her notebook in shame, scribbling on the already full notebook.
“There are no NaCl molecules in the way as there are H2O, O2, Cl2, or CO2 molecules.” She quickly added, going a bit fast.
“It’s 8:45, we have one more hour with you sir.” She added, now looking at Mr.Qi, still blushing, trying to force a smile. She heard some snickering around the class, mainly from her friend. Knowing Melody, you’ll know that this was bring her mood down all week long.
“I just can’t catch a break.” She whispered again, leaning head against her palm, looking cranky and a bit grumpy, “I hate myself right now.”

[tr][atrb=width,220]She tilted her head as he began to talk; part of her wanted to believe that he was patronizing her, which wasn't unusual given her appearance and typical behavior, the other part preferred to think that to think that he was merely invoking a more ceremonial function of language, responding in a polite, socially acceptable manner to her own introductory question. Audie decided that he was being polite, even if she suspected that he did not care about what she thought in any fashion. No matter.
Audie opened her mouth to answer - the question was hardly intrusive, and she had her own game to play after all - when she was interrupted by a child, one with a darker nature, demanding that she not answer it. Her smile did not lessen, but dimmed around the edges, becoming stiff and menacing, just for a moment, before it become real once again. She did not chide, or admonish the boy; a classmate of his did, however. The girl was quite adamant in her defense of her new teacher. How cute... Although, a glance at her hands would unlikely prove beneficial; she wore rings on each finger, silver bands on eight of them, jeweled ones on the remaining.
"Mrs.Nylen," She answered in a murmur. He began to teach once again, and she tuned him out for a moment. It was interesting, surely, but she could re-learn it on her own time, if she so cared. The vampire leaned against his desk, carefully not to alter the position of anything. From her pocket she took out a small, bound book; gold runes decorated the cover. She flipped it open to a seemingly random page, and began writing quickly - in a language, a code perhaps, of her own creation. Audie bit her lip at something she had just written, and flipped through her pages. She was thus distracted until Yáng put upon the knowledge of the class.
The demon student, a male whose picture she had seen in the roster of her own class, answering in a manner which more resembled an interruption. She turned away from the class, looking at the board, hand over her mouth, looking as though she was checking the time. Her teeth were sharp and bared, pressed hard together, her eyes turning red. The students did not need to see that. She swallowed and forced herself to relax, burying the irritation deep down, to be released later tonight, when she was able to go outside. If there was one thing that she truly loathed it was, at the moment, rudeness, arrogance, believed superiority. She slipped her book back into her pocket, her smile in place - turning back to listen to the pink-haired child quietly correcting the boy. Oh, if only she could have this girl in her class; far better than children who had imposed their own self-isolation. Audie brushed a strand of hair away from her eyes, patiently observing Yáng's reaction the 'answer' and the subsequent events.

Yáng had done some telepathy work in the past, and the first, basic defense was to be able to tell that your mind was being probed and by who. The hard thing was to ward off a creature's attempt, which Yáng quite wasn't skilled enough to do. The second defense was to be able to tell what was read while the aggressor was in your mind. The boy had read his mind for his greatest fear, which happened to be sleeping. Yáng never slept, not after a nightmare a long time ago. He could only keep up this habit with his martial arts training, and the fact that he was an elf. Instead of sleeping he simply entered a meditative state, to rest his mind.
The elf couldn't help but be shocked by being suddenly read, especially by someone in the class. It was an advanced art and that made it all the more odd that someone in a high-school class would be able to do it. Yáng took a deep breath as he rubbed his eyes. He kept an eye on everyone but kept silent as the boy, the girl, and Audie talked. This was unexpected and troublesome, but he found that the event could work out in favor of his game, that much was certain after watching Mrs. Nylen and the pink-haired girl's reactions.
"Well, uh, those were some very good answers, you two. ...But." Yáng glared at Skara. This time he was ready to deliver a quick counter-spell, should the boy try his luck at his mind again. "I'm afraid I can't count your answer. It was really immature of you to read my mind just now for the answers to my questions, that's no way to learn. Besides, students aren't allowed to use magic in class without the teacher's permission. Normally I'd be sending you to the Dean's office, but I'm going to let you off with a warning. Don't disrupt class like that again." Of course, Yáng lied. The way he did it was smooth and with authority. No one would believe the boy's attempt to defend himself. Yáng let himself relax, he had won this battle of wits already.
"Well if we only have an hour left, lets finish class off with a little game I like to call Two Truths & a Lie. I'm sure you've all heard of it before, but my version is a bit different. You'll start off by announcing your name, age, and race, then you'll say three things about yourself. One of those things has to be a lie. The biggest difference is that you can't call someone out on which one is the lie right away, and you can't tell anyone which is the lie either. If you want to know which one was a lie, you'll have to approach that person after class and ask them. Think of it as a good conversation starter and a way to make new friends." Yáng ended with a smile.
"Now who'd like to go first?"

He is afraid of sleeping cause of a nightmare? Wow, how lame. But using that against him would be difficult, perhaps if he could gleam what that nightmare was but looking twice wouldn't be smart as he looks like the type to have at least know Skara had done something to him, but perhaps he would have just thought he got his information from his mind. It is not the mind his demon powers get the information from it is the soul so for that he needs eye contact for that, 'the eyes are the window to the soul' is not just a saying and it probably came from people like him.
"If you had noticed she has rings on all her fingers, and Lady Nylen could predate the usage of a ring on the ring finger. Mayhaps she was bound by handfasting or such." he replied to the girl who handed out the books and nodded respectfully -a tiny bow really- at the teacher in question. Skara had no problem with vampires, yes some tended to be treacherous and deceptive and utter twats but no vampire can match an elf. So he just smiled warmly -or at least it looked that way- at the elf and switched his language to Elvish, it was the language from back when he was a kid and whether or not Elvish had changes over the years as human languages did he didn't know. So at the risk of speaking an old dialect or something and perhaps betraying a little his origins he spoke, "Ah but your little manipulations depend on me caring about what these people thing. So go ahead turn them against me, do any look like friends of mine?"
He narrowed his eyes at the elf and wanted to punch him, "You didn't say the other two had to be the complete truth, so how about you add that into it and I may partake of your game if you go first." he replied to his still standing as he crossed his hands over his chest. Despite his master's warnings on fay creatures Skara thought he knew better because elves looked more civilised than hobgoblins and fairies and gnomes and the rest, 'never trust an elf' was learned the hard way. He took out his pocket watch and opened it to look at something, yes it told the time but it also told him something else and as far as he knew it was a compass of sorts as well, as for what it pointed to he had no idea.

Today I don’t feel like doing anything I just wanna lay in my bed

Melody just sat there, scribbling on the notebook. She didn’t want to play the game, she never knew what to say. She sighed, she figured she would say something that most of the students here knew. The old students that had classes with her before. She yawned one more time, thats when she noticed that her friend was lifting her hand.
Then Skara started to speak. He was being a smart-ass and he clearly never played that game before. She stood up, so that her friend would let go of her hand. “ Have you never played Two truths, one lie?” She asked, looking at Skara, a bit surprised.
“One is the lie, two are not, that’s all to it.” She added, “Of course you could just lie all the way…” She added, crossing her arms, “but that’s not fun, now is it? So just please, take that stick out of your ass.” She added, clearly mad a few even laughing from Melody's comment since she doesn't talk like that, for them it's weird and funny. He just needs to define one lie, that’s it, and yet he is questioning the game. She is guessing that Skara has something against Mr.Qi or against elves. Whatever it is, she isn’t liking it, Mr. Qi is his teacher and he should respect him. Melody realized that she wasn’t really respecting Mr. Qi either, since she is fighting with Skara, but sometimes she does get a temper. She doesn’t want to question why.
She looked around, ‘I guess they are waiting.’ She thought, “um, um, I’m Melody, I’m 14 and I’m human, or a witch, whatever you want to call it…” She said, thinking a bit. “I love coconuts, I’m the master of broom-flying, aaaaand I like to sing.” She said, smiling, as she noticed a few were giggling. Broom-flying was her weakness, she can remember the first time she was on the broom. The teacher had to save her, Melody fell off, and that a few times. Even today she might fall off from the broom, she just hates it.
“Now it’s your turn.” She said to Skara, smiling a bit, then sitting down.

[tr][atrb=width,220]Her eyes crinkled as she grinned, genuine and in humour, at his response. She would not say that it was a blatant lie - maybe he actually did think that their answer had been good in some - but it was rather close to it. She followed his gaze as it shifted to the demon-boy; the vampire raised an eyebrow a fraction of an inch. The child was a mind-reader, too? She had plenty of qualms with mind readers, regarding the ethics of such primarily, but those were no the issues which currently came to mind. In their place, now, came the ponderance of how the boy came to be able to perform intricate mental work like that; questions also surfaced, mostly of the ilk of the 'how, why, and what' variety. He would have to be watched; if not because he was a security risk, then only to satisfy her rampant curiosity.
As a way to make new friends? Unlikely. These students had already formed their bonds; an lying game would hardly serve to bring about any new relationships; perhaps, they could become friends over shared interests or family, a possiblity, however much she doubted it. Still, it was a good way to build a shared sense of commadire in the classroom, she supposed. She she participate? Sure. No harm in it, really. The only concern was regarding what she was going to say; two serious things and one frivolous - one serious truth or lire, and two silly statements? And the content of those statements could range to and from anything, as well.
Yáng asked who would like to go first - and, surprise, surprise. The choice in game appearantly didn't suit the demon-child. Pity. She did not pay attention to what he was saying after a moment, concentarting, instead, on her nails. Vaguely, she was aware that girl was speaking to him again, followed by a bit of laughter. Audie tuned back in when the girl began to talk in a calmer, slightly abashed tone. Melody, hm? The witch invited the boy to speak; and Audie waited a moment (or whatever a moment consisted of for her), standing up straighter. She made sure that no one was speaking and spoke.
"As many of you should know, my name is Audie Nylen. I'm probably 200-ish and a vampire." She began, calm and steady, persuasive, as though she was currently trying to convince, "My favourite colour is white, I have two siblings, and I love sweets." Audie glanced at her watch, and waved goodbye. "I hope to see you all in my class, children. Goodbye, teacher." Audie left the room, humming quiety. She had plenty to think about, preferably alone.
